(AP) — Criminal charges connected to a domestic violence case against Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges were dropped Tuesday because of “insufficient evidence," court documents show. Bridges had been facing three charges for an alleged violation of a domestic violence protection order on Oct. 6, 2023, misdemeanor child abuse and injury to personal property. Later, the woman told prosecutors she was unsure how her car was damaged, according to court documents. He sat out all of the 2022-23 NBA season as a result of the domestic violence case from June 2022. The 25-year-old Bridges was also ordered to complete 52 weeks of parenting classes, 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling and 100 hours of community service as part of the agreement.

BIIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — The mother of a woman killed near the University of Alabama has filed a wrongful death lawsuit in federal court against current Charlotte Hornets rookie Brandon Miller and two other men. Decarla Raietta Heard filed the suit Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama Western Division against Miller, former Crimson Tide player Darius Miles and another man, Michael Davis. Both Miles and Davis are charged with capital murder while Miller was described as a cooperating witness. Miller and fellow freshman Jaden Bradley, who has since transferred to Arizona, were also placed at the scene. According to police testimony, Miller brought Miles his gun.

CNN —Victor Wembanyama, a 7-foot-4 Frenchman who some NBA commentators think could be a generational talent, was the No. 1 pick by the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Draft on Thursday night. “It’s a tough league,” Wembanyama told draft broadcaster ESPN through tears after he was selected. G-League player Scoot Henderson, a 6-foot-2 guard, was the third pick, going to the Portland Trail Blazers. The 6-foot-7 brothers are the first siblings to be picked in the top five (or top 10, even) of the NBA Draft in the same year.

Michael Jordan has agreed to sell his majority stake in his NBA team the Charlotte Hornets. The Hornets are valued at $3 billion, per ESPN — more than 10 times the sum Jordan paid in 2010. Michael Jordan could bag a billion-dollar windfall after he agreed to sell his NBA team for what's likely be a huge premium on the price he paid 13 years ago. Jordan previously sold a minority stake in the Hornets to Plotkin, who is the founder of investment firm Tallwoods Capital, and Daniel Sundheim in 2019. Rapper J. Cole is also part of the group that will buy Jordan's majority stake, the Hornets said.
